A Public Information open house, featuring a presentation by published author and CBC's Here & Now food columnist Sarah Elton, will be held on Thursday, May 10 at the Callander Community Centre (large hall).

Coordinated by Callander's Community Sustainability Committee, doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with nine or more information displays by local area food producers and organizations promoting the production and purchase of local food products. Sarah Elton's presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. sharp.

Sarah's most recent book, Locavore, won Gold at the Culinary Book Awards, was named one of Amazon.ca's top 50 books of 2010 and was also a David Suzuki Book Club Pick. 

Free admission, snacks, coffee and tea; if you have your own beverage mug, be sure to bring it along.

Transition Town North Bay will be in attendance and will be manning a booth to help out those interested in becoming more involved with local food production.

Join us for our regular potluck social at St. Andrew's United Church at 5:30pm this Thursday (tomorrow!).  Following the meal there will be a presentation by Kevin Alexander titled "The Story of Local Medicinal Plants - What you can learn from your five senses about a plants secrets".  See you there!

We will be having a potluck supper on Thursday March 22, 2012 at St. Andrew's church starting at 5:30pm. Discussions will be around local initiatives to support the local economy.

North Bay Market is a company dedicated to providing Northern Ontarians with healthy, sustainably farmed and environmentally responsible food all year. We provide pasture fed, no growth hormone and antibiotic free beef, pork and lamb. In the summer, we run a community shared agriculture program for local fruit and produce. We also carry local organic flour and wheat as well as local cheese.
